Emergency Care: Research Sites

EQUIP Emergency research activities will take place at three emergency department sites in British Columbia. Each ED is in a different health authority, and serves different populations.

St. Paul’s Hospital

St Paul’s Hospital is part of Providence Health Care, which is affiliated with Vancouver Coastal Health. This site serves those living or visiting the downtown core of Vancouver, including some of the most vulnerable and marginalized populations.

Surrey Memorial Hospital

Surrey Memorial Hospital (SMH) is located in a large suburban area and is part of Fraser Health. SMH is the largest ED in Western Canada and has approximately 140,000 patient visits per year.

University Hospital of Northern British Columbia

The University Hospital of Northern British Columbia in Prince George serves as a regional hub for specialized services for Northern Health.
