There are many possibilities to make your environment more welcoming. For example, you can display words and phrases in local languages and dialects, put up local art, or provide coffee, tea or water to people while they wait for their appointment. Other sites have done more structural things like change the lighting so it doesn’t trigger those who’ve lived in abusive institutions, such as Residential Schools. This poster may help to remind staff and clients of your commitment to creating a welcoming environment and to prompt your thinking of other examples!
