Team members from EQUIP Primary Care have delivered workshops for health and social service providers about trauma, violence and how to integrate TVIC into practice. We have made one such workshop available by video, along with some downloadable workshop materials.
If you are interested in learning more or implementing TVIC — into your own practices, or as an organization — these materials may be helpful. You can watch the videos and work through the other materials on your own. Or you may wish to gather your colleagues to watch and work through these as an organization.
Part 1: “Trauma & Violence 101”
In this video (~26 min), Dr. Marilyn Ford-Gilboe (PhD, RN), Professor in Western University’s Arthur Labatt Family School of Nursing, talks about why understanding trauma and violence is necessary to TVIC.
Part 2: “TVIC”
In Part 2 (~24 min), Dr. Nadine Wathen (PhD), Professor in Western University’s Faculty of Information and Media Studies, describes TVIC and its core principles. She provides some workshop tools, to help teams work through the content. You can download the workshop tools here:
Part 3: “Vicarious Trauma”
In Part 3 (~9.5 min), Nadine & Marilyn present the EQUIP Tools and Resources, and talk about how to recognize and manage vicarious trauma.
